ABOUT BOTSWANA

Botswana offers a diverse array of stunning natural landscapes, from the serene, crystal-clear waterways of the Okavango Delta to the vast herds of elephants roaming the Chobe National Park. Contrasting this, the parched, arid expanses of the Kalahari Desert create an unforgettable backdrop. This landlocked country is truly a premier safari destination, blessed with some of Africa's most breathtaking protected areas and an exceptional diversity of wildlife.

ABOUT CHOBE NATIONAL PARK (SAVUTE REGION)

Chobe National Park, located in northern Botswana along the mighty Chobe River, is renowned as one of Africa's premier wildlife destinations. Spanning an impressive 11,700 square kilometers, it is the third largest park in Botswana and boasts a remarkably diverse array of landscapes and habitats. From the lush floodplains and marshy channels along the river, to the dense teak woodlands and baobab-studded valleys inland, Chobe offers incredible scenic beauty.

However, it is the park's staggering concentration of wildlife that draws visitors from around the globe. Chobe is world-famous for its enormous elephant herds, believed to be the largest surviving continuous population on the African continent with numbers around 120,000. Visitors can expect unparalleled elephant viewing and interactions. Chobe is also home to huge populations of other iconic species like buffalo, lions, leopards, cheetahs, packs of endangered African wild dogs, and over 460 species of birds. The Chobe River itself acts as an oasis, attracting an incredible diversity of wildlife to its life-giving waters.

The Savute region, located in the southwest of Chobe National Park, is a wild and dramatic landscape known for its unpredictable ecosystem. Characterized by open grasslands, rocky outcrops, and the mysterious Savute Channel, this area offers a unique safari experience. Savute is famous for its large elephant populations, lion prides, and the annual zebra migration. Visitors can witness incredible predator-prey interactions and enjoy unparalleled game viewing opportunities in this remote and untamed corner of Botswana.

ABOUT MOREMI GAME RESERVE

Moremi Game Reserve is one of the premier safari destinations in Botswana, situated within the iconic Okavango Delta. Covering an area of almost 5,000 square kilometers, the reserve features a diverse mix of landscapes, from lush floodplains and meandering channels to dense forests and open savannas.

Accessible by 4x4 vehicles and offering a variety of luxury safari lodges and tented camps, Moremi provides visitors with an unparalleled opportunity to immerse themselves in the natural beauty and abundant wildlife of the Okavango Delta. The reserve is especially renowned for its excellent game viewing during the dry season when animals congregate around the permanent water sources.

ABOUT OKAVANGO PANHANDLE & TSODILO HILLS

The Okavango Panhandle is a unique region in northwestern Botswana, forming the entry point of the Okavango River into the country. This narrow strip of land is characterized by permanent waterways, lush vegetation, and abundant wildlife. It's a paradise for fishing enthusiasts, birdwatchers, and those seeking a water-based safari experience.

Key features of the Okavango Panhandle:
-Permanent deep water channels teeming with fish.
-Excellent birdwatching opportunities, including the rare Pel's fishing owl.
-Ideal for boat safaris and mokoro (traditional canoe) excursions.
-Home to crocodiles, hippos, and various antelope species.

Located to the west of the Panhandle are the Tsodilo Hills, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of immense cultural and spiritual significance. These hills rise dramatically from the Kalahari sands and are often referred to as the "Louvre of the Desert" due to their remarkable collection of rock art.

Tsodilo Hills highlights:
-Over 4,500 rock paintings dating back thousands of years.
-Four main hills, the highest reaching 1,400 meters.
-Sacred to the local San people, who believe the hills are a resting place of spirits.
